Juana Duran is a resident of Stamford and was referred to the Stamford American Job Center by a friend. After 12 years of work as a housekeeper, she was concerned about providing for her family. She came into our office interested in accessing WIOA funding for a career change and to secure a higher paying job. She attended the WIOA Orientation and worked with AJC staff to research career pathways and made the decision to pursue training to become a Certified Nurse Assistant. She completed her training successfully and received her CNA license, which in turn led to a position with Norwalk Hospital. Juana appreciates the assistance provided by the Stamford AJC and the opportunities she was able to have thanks to WIOA training funds.
